Roxanne Weidele
The focus of Roxanne Weidele’s art is on the colors, textures, and forms that occur in nature. She often exaggerates these elements to express the strength and beauty of a landscape and to capture its mood. Roxanne portrays the colors of the land, sky, and water in vivid color and subtracts, from her composition, any buildings, boats, or human components. The resulting images of fields, marshes, the shore and creeks are calming yet bold.
Originally from New York City, Roxanne now makes her home in Galesville, Maryland. Before retirement in 1999, Roxanne was an art educator at Southern Senior High School in Maryland. In addition to teaching, she has been active with other artists, participating in workshops and exhibiting in shows.
The artist received an Associates Degree in Fine Art from the Silvermine College of Art in Connecticut and a Bachelor of Art in Art Education from Hofstra University in New York. Her formal education continued with Masters courses at the Maryland Institue College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland.
